"Through the Eyes of A Child"

About The Show

The original show "Through the Eyes of A Child" that took place back in November 2008 featured 100 paintings by artist Alex Radin which were created based on the drawings of his 4 year old daughter Elianna Radin.

This show was a purposeful attempt by Alex to tap back into the raw uninhibited creative expression and freedom of a child. “Children are the most uninhibited artists and are full of such fascination with the world around them," says Alex. "Watching my daughter create inspired me to break the boundaries of my own creative process. It is my hope that that when someone buys one of these paintings and hangs it in their home that it will be a reminder to them everyday to take time to have fun be a kid and see the world through the eyes of a child."

Almost half of the 100 paintings originally created for this show have already sold. The remaining paintings have shown at numerous locations throughout the Charleston Tri-County area.

A coffee table book is also planned for the future which will feature all 100 paintings along with comments, artist statments, and biographies. Elianna Radin is the four year old daughter of Alex and Sara Radin. She enjoys drawing, painting, singing, dancing, modeling, acting, and being a big sister. All of her works in this debut show were created solely by her. All are drawings in crayon, pen, pencil, and markers on paper. She aspires to have her own show one day in which she can choose which drawings will go in the show, including those with stickers and those in which she collaborated with her mom and dad. “I use crayons, pencils, markers and pens, because I really love the way they blend,” explains Elianna. Elianna’s subject matter ranges from circles to fall leaves that she collected and traced to narratives about queens, princesses, storms, and her ballet class. “My favorite things to draw are circles with flowers,” she says. “The circles are in all kinds of different colors and sizes.” “I love artwork that has pink in it, and I love doing pictures that are creative,” says Elianna. “I make creations because I love God, and I’m listening a little bit more for God.” Elianna has been encouraged by her parents to ask God to give her ideas for the pictures that she draws. Most of all Elianna likes to draw because it’s fun.
